While at the Neil Public Library, I came across this book, Palouse Getaways, by Bill London. This is a collection of columns he published in the Moscow-Pullman Daily News newspaper since 1999. It is 40 different locations of interest within a 100-mile radius of Moscow. When I came across this little gem, I had been lamenting the fact that I always seem to move away from a place feeling some regret that I didn't explore it more. I found it at the perfect time, because I was all full of desire to explore this wonderful little area of the PNW.
I decided I wanted to make this a part of our homeschooling curriculum this year, and I invited a homeschooling friend to join me! I am going to attempt to visit one place a week, weather permitting. I am also realistic that I might need to occasionally put this on pause since many things are outdoors and we are heading into winter. But I hope committing in this way will keep me motivated to complete the entire book.
I am looking forward to exploring this area where I grew up and still consider home!
